Shamrock Court

Route 66 enthusiast and historian Rich Dinkela reached out to Pro Precision Painting in search of quality craftsmanship.

Over the past several years of trekking, journaling, and sharing the history of Route 66 on social media, Rich found himself in the unique position to acquire the famous Shamrock Court Motel in Sullivan, Missouri.

As a small business owner, he carefully poured over the details of restoring and rebuilding this once-iconic stop, determined to bring new life to a classic piece of Route 66 heritage.

Pro Precision Painting was entrusted to help protect the building from water intrusion around more than 50 windows, while also enhancing their appearance. In addition, our team restored and safeguarded the soffits, dormers, gables, eaves, and rakes—beautifying the structure while ensuring long-lasting protection against the elements.

We are proud to have been part of this historic restoration project. Enjoy a look at Shamrock Court’s revival!

RESTORATION PROCESS

Original Conditions

Built in the early 1940’s the Shamrock Court saw its share of paint and restoration over the years. Things we identified:

  • Older paints weathering over time (cracking, peeling, etc.)
  • Areas for future water intrusion
  • Water-damaged wood frames

Restoration

Our preparation consisted of:

  • Clearing out old caulk and debris around new windows
  • Resealing all water-penetrable cracks
  • Priming and painting aged wood structure
  • Weather preparing all dormers

Once the repairs were made, we began the process of final painting and beautification.

Surfaces were painted with a custom color match and Sherwin Williams exterior acrylic latex paints.
